Elevator Project

Celebrating Local Dance, Theatre and Art in the Dallas Arts District

The Center supports small, emerging and historically marginalized arts organizations and artists to entertain and challenge our community in significant ways. The initiative has evolved into a curated season of work stretching across genres — with the projects chosen through a competitive process by a panel of arts professionals and advocates.

Unique performances in outstanding venues

Performances range from single-night shows to two-week runs that include theater, dance, spoken word, opera, cabaret, comedy and everything in between.

While most shows are performed in Wyly Theatre’s 6th Floor Studio Theatre or the Winspear Opera House’s Hamon Hall, the Center considers other campus venues — subject to availability.

The Elevator Project is made possible through the support and partnership of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, The Eugene McDermott Foundation, The Dallas Foundation and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

The program pushed us to produce work on a larger scale than previous projects, and we're grateful for the support of the program and theater staff throughout the process.

Qualifications

Applicants must be Dallas-based — and special consideration is given to those who do not have a performance space they call home.
